EOC Week 3: Making Money For Good

It's easy to open a business, hire employees, gain profit, yet not have a world known name.Carrying quality products, a strong brand name, and quality customer service does wonders for a business, however what makes the most impact is those that help their communities. Even in economic hard times, companies still feel the need to donate profit to certain organizations. "Despite these hard times, a few companies who have chosen to swim against the current by actually giving back some of what they earn are recording record profits.”  (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andrew-shapter/despite-economy-not-only_b_486607.html). This not only helps out communities in need, but also helps the corporation in gaining more supporters.

Wal-mart is a world wide corporation and has become the top corporation donor. The walmart company focuses on education, economic opportunity, health and wellness and environmental sustainability. "Walmart and the Walmart Foundation made a $2 billion commitment through 2015 to hunger relief efforts in the U.S. in order to support the record 1 in 6 Americans who do not know where their next meal is coming from." (http://walmartstores.com/CommunityGiving/203.aspx). These kind of actions have placed Wal-mart as one of the top corporations and become a household name worldwide.

Coca Cola which is a historical and iconic company, recently partnered with Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones in their plan to rerecord "We Are The World" to help the Haiti earthquake relief.  “Coca-Cola’s involvement in this vitally necessary endeavor is a re-affirmation of my belief that if we all use our resources collectively, we can bring about great positive change in the world and improve the lives of our fellow man.”(http://www.looktothestars.org/news/3863-we-are-the-world-coca-cola-joins-celebrities-for-charity) Coca Cola was using its worldwide fame to benefit the We Are The World 25 For Haiti Campaign.

Mc Donalds another company known worldwide is utilizing its presence in homes to support programs that deal with improving the well being of children. RMHC finds other nonprofit organizations that have the same mission and beliefs, and supplies them with grants to achieve this mission.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

Prepare about 300 words with three quotes from three different internet sources. Do a BCG analysis of the video game market. A quote is about 25 words that is an exact quote from a website. It is followed by the source. For the web, it is the address. For a book, it is the name of the book with the page number. IT must be an academic source to provide “authority”.

Pay particular attention to the "question mark". Who is it?

Support your opinions "with authority".

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

My experience where I received great customer service was at the Bakers shoe store. The company's mission statement states that their purpose is to ensure every woman feels that she is in her own closet with her own attendant identifying her every want and need. My mother and I were going to a relative's wedding and were in search of the perfect pair of heels. Not too tall yet not too short as well as comfortable and cute all at the same time. Instantly, we were greeted by Diana whom had a HUGE smile on her face. She informed us about the sale that was going on at the time, and asked if we needed help finding a shoe. I simply let her know that we'd have a look around and let her know if we needed any assistance. She then proceeded to let us know where the newer merchandise and top sellers were placed. We found shoes that we wanted to try on. We both asked for two shoes, and Diana returned with 3 shoes for each of us. The two we asked for as well as an additional style. "I thought that these are similar to the style you were looking for, but they’re a bit more cost efficient and offer more comfort." This stood out to me and my mother because she obviously was more concerned about our happiness than making her commission goal for the day. This work ethic shows that this company although being affected by the economic downfall, will excel in future times to come. “The key to building lasting customer relationships is to create superior customer value and satisfaction,” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corp. 10th Edition Page 19) is something that I feel the Bakers Footwear Group works by to ensure that they have consistent customers by building their customer relationships through concern and not profit.

EOC Week 1: My Voice

Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, I decided at a young age that cameras were toys that I enjoyed playing with. Playing with my mother’s film cameras, the fact that I could peak through a little hole, press a button and later wait until someone handed me an image that was the same thing I viewed previously, was incredibly fun and amazing. As I got older, the simple act of being able to capture ones essence in a still moment of time for future viewers to see captivated me. It was this that then made me decide that photography would be something I would pursue in my future endeavors.  Having an eye for fashion and beauty advertisement, and a passion for capturing who my subjects were my road to success begins. As I turn my passion into my career I decided to relocate to Las Vegas, Nevada to broaden my portfolio and continue my education with hopes to one day become a renowned celebrity portrait and fashion photographer.  With aspirations of becoming the next portrait photographer along the lines of Avedon and Leibovitz, I will stop at nothing to reach my career.
